Joyce & Brian + Wedding

I’m a big fan of church weddings, something about the traditionand romanticism, but if you’re getting married in California, there’s so much to say for a good outdoor wedding. And if you can manage an ocean view as an added bonus, you have the ingredients for an ideal ceremony.

Joyce and Brian were married at one of my favorite venues with a view in Los Angeles County, La Venta Inn, which floats atop the cliffs of Palos Verdes with a wide view of the Pacific and far east into the the mountains. Stunning locale aside, as a foodie, I have to give La Venta a round of applause for their food. Banquet food is notoriously hard to serve, but their focus is all about the quality.

I had the honor of shooting the wedding with my photo partner, the incomperable Jeremy Yates.

The sky had been overcast all morning, which worked out nicely for some of the portrait shots, but by afternoon the clouds broke giving us an amazing sky for the ceremony and group shots.

We got the opportunity to work alongside Brian Press, owner of Impressive Creations. The term videographer doesn’t do justice to what his company does. They prefer the term wedding cinematographers. Check out their site; the Hollywood quality camera work and editing are just outstanding. On top of all that, Brian and everyone from his staff I’ve ever worked with are so professional and friendly. If you’re in the market for a motion-picture record of your special occasion, look up Impressive Creations. Here's the amazing video they produced of Joyce and Brian's wedding day.
